2nd time moms... using weight watchers after baby?

So I'm already planning on how I can lose weight after baby is born.  I was about 15-20lbs  overweight before I got pregnant, so I'd like to lose baby weight and then some.  I'm thinking weight watchers may be a good option for me, although I've never tried it.  I know they have a plan for nursing moms.  Has anyone tried it?  Opinions or thoughts??

  • Well I am a first time mom but I have tried WW before and it definately works. I lost 20lbs in a couple months. I also saw on one of the Bump boards that a 2nd time mama lost like 40lbs in 7 weeks by using WW while nursing. I am going to try it because it is the only "diet" that has ever worked for me.

  • It works!

The only thing I will say - they say wait 6 weeks before staring any diet to make sure your milk is well established.

  • did WW in my teens and lost about 45lbs

Wish I started sooner after DD ( gained 100lbs with her) had DD end of June09 and didnt start WW till after the holidays ( middlle of Jan) up untill I unexpectedly got KO early oct, I was doing great had lost 75ish lbs ...

definately will be starting as soon as possible after DS is born, i heard they won't let you start untill 6wks postpartum, not sure if thats true though

  • I've done WW before and really liked it (although, I had to quit after finding out I was pregnant with this LO).  They just changed the how the points system works, but people I know who are currently on it really like it and have been very successful.

They DO have plans for nursing women...you get more points toward certain types of food or something like that.

I personally plan on going back to WW after the baby is born, although I will definitely wait several weeks before starting up again.

  • I did WW before I got married and was going to do it again but then I ended up pregnant. I plan on BF and doing WW. I have two weddings to go to soon after the birth. One beach wedding in 3 mo and the other wedding is 4 mo and I'm a bridesmaid. I've packed on 40 pounds this preganacy so I want to lose a total of 55 (I know wont happen) by at least the second wedding. I plan on starting WW at 3 wks PP bc of the BF.

  • I did it after my 1st baby and was back to prepregnancy weight by about 12 weeks.  I continued to lose another 10 pounds.  I will say I did not breastfeed, but they did have a plan for those who do breastfeed.  You have to weight 6 weeks after the baby is born before they will let you start.  I had lots of luck and plan on doing it again after baby #2.

  • If you do it online, they don't control how soon you start. I didn't bf, but I started the online program the day after coming home from the hospital after having #2. Honestly, the weight came off just as fast as it did with #1 (w/o ww). I'm not planning to sign up this time, though I've used the plan before so I'll be following their proportion/recipe/pts. theory. After a while, you don't need the plan to know how to live on the plan.
