Yet another wording question if you'll humor me

And yes, I know I'm overthinking this!  I'm finalizing the wording for an invite for a celebration lunch for a friend that is having #3.  Invite says No Gifts Please, and the words "baby shower" are nowhere to be found on the invite.

Should it say, "Please join us for lunch in honor of" or "Let's meet for lunch in honor of".  It's at a restaurant, and my expectation is for everyone to pay their own way, but I think most people will assume that.  Does wording it "Please join us" or "Let's meet for lunch" imply that more than another?

Thanks!  :-)  Happy Good Friday to all!

Re: Yet another wording question if you'll humor me

  • I'd go with "Let's meet for lunch".

Or to be more clear, "Please join us" and then say in small print at the bottom Reservations at 1 P.M., no host lunch.

It may be a little "eeeeeeeh" to put "no host lunch", but that way- it's out there, it's done, you know everyone is on board with that plan.  Which, for a third baby, is totally beyond fine IMO.

  • I agree with saying both "please join us" and "no host lunch" if you want others to know they are paying for thier own lunch.
  • I would vote for "Let's meet for" as well. Join us makes me think that it might be hosted...

  • I would print that it's a no host lunch.  If I received a formal invitation in the mail, I would assume that I would not have to pay.
