I was wondering if any one has had a birth with a Doctor or Midwife from The Women's Specialists of Houston. If so, how was your experience and did you have a natural birth?
LOOOOOOTS of us have. I loved my OB and the staff there. If and when we decide to have another, definitely going with the same OB.
If you mean natural as in no drugs, no I didn't. I loved getting my epi and will do it again. The midwives (from what I hear) and OBs are supportive of whatever kind of birth you want, so long as it is safe for baby and mommy.
Thank you! If you don't mind me asking which OB did you use? If you don't want to post it here you can email me @ davonda_chandler@hotmail.com.
I don't mind posting at all...she's very popular here and I went to her before we even got pregnant because of all the raves about her. Dr. Kimberly Bobo was and is my doctor. One of my best friends go to Dr. Dryden and loves her too (but she is only taking referrals from her current patients for new patients right now).
I didn't go the midwife route so can't help you there.

I went with Dr Bobo. Dr Dryden was my second choice.
I didn't have a natural birth (I ended up with a scheduled c-section because DD got so big and I'd had zero progress) but I had no doubt she'd have been supportive of it. Before we realized how big she'd gotten, Dr Bobo and I discussed how far we'd let me go before talking induction (she'd have let me go to 41 weeks.) I chose her because I knew she was generally pro natural birth though, and I considered the midwives (but DH was more comfortable with an MD)
I will say she's very cautious and generally non-interventionist. The scheduled C was my choice based on the odds she gave me for success at an induction; I could have induced if I'd wanted to. I had a somewhat complicated but very healthy pregnancy -- I had a subchorionic hematoma and then some placental resistance, so we did a lot of monitoring, but I had no other problems.
i had dr. bobo too and she was fabulous. she didn't actually end up delivering me unfortunately, but the reasons were understandable and the doctor on call, carla ortique, ended up doing it, but she was great too. i had to be induced but the pitocin was the only medicine i had, no pain meds at all. they were all supportive, though did definitely tell me all the options. i had always not wanted an epidural or anything else and am so happy that i actually got that. wouldnt change a thing.
Another rec for Bobo ~ I started going to her when I got pregnant and will forever be loyal...and we're not having any more kids. She is FANTASTIC.
Dryden was the doctor on call when I first went into the hospital @ 2 am the day I delivered, but Bobo came in and delivered DD. I really, really liked Dryden as well. My aunt goes to her and loves her, and I have a family friend who works for her.
Seriously, you cannot go wrong with Women's Specialists. They are just phenomenal, and I have always been pleased with EVERYONE there ~ receptionists, administrative staff, nurses, techs, etc. Everybody is wonderful.

I switched from assembly-line care at another practice to the midwives and was very happy with my care. Zepeda did my c/s, he and his NP are fabulous. Unfortunately, the MWs only deliver at tch/stl and you couldn't pay me enough to have another baby there.
I saw the midwives throughout my pregnancy and loved all of them. They are a very caring, open group who never hurried me through appointments and answered all my questions. I know that they would have done everything they could to help me have the birth experience I wanted.
However, my body had different ideas and my LO was born at 27 weeks via emergency c-section. The midwife on call (Dawn) was present at the birth but the actual procedure was done by Dr Espana who is wonderful as well. I have since switched to Dr Espana since any future prengnacies I have will be high risk can I cannot use the midwives for my situation. I will say that every one of the midwives came to check on me during my hospital stay and Dr Espana also checked on me every day, even when he was not on call.
Loooove Dr. Zepeda. I didn't have a natural birth (planned c-section), so I can't speak to that aspect. But I would wholeheartedly recommend him. Also, his nurse practitioner is wonderful.

Dr. Mott performed c-section after trying everything under the sun to get my DD to descend into pelvis, including reinfusing my uterus with fluid! I appreciated her efforts to make my vaginal delivery wishes come true, even though they didn't. I had a wonderful c-section experience with her and we are currently working on having a hypnobabies vbac with my LO due in August. She's fabulous!

I have heard rave reviews about all of the docs with that group. I go to Dr. Mott and I love her!
I switched over to the midwives at 32 weeks from OGA and LOVE them! I am due in just a few weeks and am planning on having a natural birth at St. Luke's, I have been in L&D there twice now to get checked out and have only had fantastic experiences when I went, I sadly can't say that about the two days I spent at Women's Hospital when I was with an OB at OGA. I am on the May mamas board, so I'm sure I will post a birth story (hopefully natural) on there once I have this little girl. Good luck!

Dryden is awesome, I can tell you that.

Its a great practice--good luck choosing!
Our precious girl, born at 27 weeks.
We went to Dr. Heard when we were TTC, and when after the first trimester we switched to Dr. Zepeda (because Heard does not do L&D).
Dr. Zepeda is wonderful, very sweet, and highly experienced. He is one of the founders of the Women's Specialists of Houston.

Wow! Thank you all, so much! I'm pretty sure I am going to go with them, just not sure if it will be a MD or Midwife yet.
I really appreciate all of your responses.
