Mid-cycle (about 3 1/2 weeks ago) I missed my BC for 3 days straight (3 days starting the daywe had sex). I had a very light and unusual period last week (1 day late but only lasted 2-3 days and it usually alst 5-6 and I don't know if I would even call it a period or if it was spotting) ... a lot of cramping and I never have cramping, very moody and emotional and exhausted. Since then I have found myself incredibly exhausted, crampy, lower back pain, constipated, nauseaus, frequent urination, gassy, a few food aversions and sensitive to smell. My breasts are not very soar but are starting to feel heavier. One big thing is that I feel pressure in my lower abdomen and I use the word pressure loosely ... it just feels like something is there and when I press on it it feels like my sister's bump felt at the beginning and i'm definitely a little bloated. I work out alot so I know I didn't gain weight. I took my first at home pregnancy test last night and it was negative and another when I woke up this morning that was also negative. I still feel like I might be ... women's intuition?
Should I see my doctor for a blood test or could it be too soon? I have seen so many posts about women who weren't able to confirm the pregnancy because of low levels of the hormone with at home or blood tests for 3 months ... how do you know if you're one of those?
I'm supposed to go out drinking tomorrow night and I'm really fearful that I could be pregnant and not be able to prove it yet.
Advice and personal stories appreciated ... Thank you!
Re: Am I pregnant?
If you're late enough to have a period (even if it's light) and that was a week ago, it's late enough to get a + HPT.
My hunch is that you threw your cycle off by missing 3 BCPs and your body is reacting to that.
I agree with your statement ... I have read a couple of testimonials of people with similar situation and a light 'period' who have actually been pregnant and my sister had the same situation.
I see you are a doctor... would you suggest I see my OB/GYN and get a blood test just to be sure? I absolutely feel pregnant.
I am a little confused. You agree with my statement that you're likely not pregnant, but you are convinced that you are pregnant? And if you are so convinced, are you still taking BCPs?
I am not an MD, and certainly not an ob/gyn, so I'm really not qualified to give you medical advice. If you really feel pregnant, and you are that concerned, call your dr and see what they say. I have had cycles where I absolutely, positively, had no chance to be pregnant and had all of the "symptoms" (sore breasts, fatigue, hunger, cramps, you name it).
FWIW, it's good that you posted it here and not on some of the main boards. This type of post is called fishing, where you're considered to be fishing for someone to tell you that you're pregnant. Unfortunately, strangers on a message board are notoriously inaccurate when it comes to pregancy predictions. Just a word of warning.
Call your doctor if you are concerned, but you are probably not pregnant.
Screwing around with your bcp can cause all those symptoms.
