Party start time AFTER naps?

Sorry, another party timing question.  I'm debating startng M's birthday bash after naps instead of before this year so we're not as rushed to get everything ready.  What would be an ideal party start time for you based on when your kiddo usually naps?

Re: Party start time AFTER naps?

  • For us it would be 5:00. my kids go down at 2 usually. I actually have found that doing parties at 10am tend to be easiest for my group of friends. Everyone can go home after lunch and take a nap then.

  • If we do a party at all this year we'll do after nap time, too.  I'm thinking 4:00.  Last year it started at noon (she was still taking two naps) and it was just so much to do in the morning.
  • We've always done our girls' parties after naptime.  Usually 3-5pm.  Of course everybody's nap time is different, so we do what works for us.  I went to a 3 year old's party at Little Gym last month with Jillian at 1pm, which was smack in the middle of her naptime.  It was fine.  And it didn't seem to bother any of the other kids who were all about 6months to a year older than her.

  • For us it would be 3.  We usually go down at about noon and sleep for 2ish hours.  Like how I said we?  Yeah this mama throws in a nap for herself when she can.  ;)
  • I did M's from 3-5, and W's from 2-4.  It's so hard to accomidate everyones naptimes, so I just went with what was easiest for our boys.  I wish I would have done W's from 1-3, but I knew that would be hard for lots of nappers.

  • I agree 3pm start time is usually good.

I am also trying to decide the same thing, but for a 5 year old b-day party where siblings are welcome. :/

  • Afternoons just seem hard in general because naps vary so much... So you're probably best just picking a time that works for your own kids and letting everyone else just deal with it.

  • I did that this year and it worked well. I was originally thinking morning, but the place we had it only does afternoon parties. We started at 4:30 and were done by 6:15 or so. It was really nice to have the day to do last-minute stuff and not be rushing around in the morning like I was with his first birthday.

  • We are having Coop's 2nd birthday party at 4:00-6:00pm at a play center. I figure most kids will have their sleep before that (including Coop!) so they should be ready to run by then.

Also a lot of my friends kids (mine included!) have swimming Saturday mornings so this way it doesn't interfere with classes. We have a friends son's party at 10:30-12:00 next week and Coop will now have to miss his swimming class because his class is at 10:00am!

Do what best suits you & enjoy!!!!
