Today is my 21st birthday, and for obvious reasons, I can't celebrate in style. So, I thought I'd ask: how did you spend your 21st (or whatever the legal minimum drinking age was for you)? Thanks ladies for helping me live vicariously!
My 21st plans: My bf and I bought my outrageously expensive dream purse that I can't stop staring at. This afternoon, we're driving down to Denver where I plan on playing a variation of the game "21 shots". Instead of me taking 21 shots, I'm having 21 people each take a shot for me in honor of me getting a "horizontal i.d." I know it's lame and cheesy, but that's all I could think of. Hmm, might also go to a play or basketball game this weekend--we'll see.
Re: How did you celebrate your 21st?
My 21st was on a weekday and during the summer, so I wasn't with my normal college crew. At midnight the night before, my dad took me to a local restaurant/bar and bought me a shot and a beer (like his dad had done for him). We went home at 12:15am.
The day of my birthday, my b/f at the time surprised me and drove 4 hours to see me. He and my parents took me out to dinner. He was not yet 21, so he went home, and my older sister and two girlfriends and I went to a club (which is funny because I am totally not a "club" girl). It was pretty lame actually.
ETA: Duh! Happy Birthday!
Spent it with my head in a toilet...
The night before we went to a party- "Cowbros and Navahoes" (sorry if that offends anyone) and it being the night before my bday I had a lot of people buying me shots (it was a friend's huge party and he charged $1 a shot). At midnight DH (then FH) and I went to a club for about an hour- I had a shot, a mixed drink, and just started on a beer when a friend texted me to meet her at another bar. I chugged my beer and walked to the other bar. Once again, lots of shots and the bartender made my raspberry screwdrivers a wee bit strong.
The next day DH rented Dawn of the Dinosaurs for me (I love dinosaurs, LOL) but we didn't get through it, he kept having to pause it for me to puke.
NOT FUN. LOL.

BLOG.
I didn't drink when I turned 21 either. I wasn't pregnant but I was a single mom with a 2 year old so I stayed in lol
I think you've got a full weekend and great plans. You'll have a blast!
I went out and drank like a pro at midnight with some friends. I don't remember anything except waking up the next day (or I guess later that morning) to my dad singing Happy Birthday and making me take a shot of jager with him. It was a bonding moment, even though I wanted to throw up. LOL!
I celebrated in classic college style. My birthday is early September, and that year just so happened to be the Saturday on the weekend right before classes started.
I had just moved into a house with my girlfriends, so on Friday night, we had a party, but most of us left just before midnight, so that I could go to the bars the MINUTE I turned 21 (not that I hadn't been there hundreds of times before....). My friend bought me our group's traditional 21st birthday shot -- a prairie fire. This is easily THE most disgusting shot ever created -- 151 and tabasco sauce. But I took it like a champ! The rest of the night was a blur, and I vaguely remember being VERY hungover the next morning.
We had another party the next day on my actual birthday. More beer, more shots, and other general debauchery. Good times!
In typical college sorority girl fashion
I went out at midnight, drank too many shots and ended up peeing in my boyfriend's bed. Worst hangover ever.
DS was all of two weeks old, so we just went out to a restaurant, and I had a margarita.
I figured I had more than my share of drinks during my early college days, so I didn't feel like I was missing out too much.
I spent my 21st out at a favorite bar in Newport with a group of friends. I crashed at their house that night and they took me out for greasy hangover breakfast the next morning before we all skipped class.
Happy Birthday!
I was on the island of Guam (first duty station in the Navy) and unfortunately I was on duty. The good news is that the drinking age is 18 there so I wasn't really missing out...I'd been drinking for quite a while
Happy Birthday!
My friends dolled me up (tiara and all) and we hit the bars in San Diego. Much fun.
Happy Birthday!
I was stuck in Louisville for my cousin's wedding. So my mom, sister and cousin took me out after the reception to a lovely drag show. I had a couple bourbon and cokes. Not exactly what I had in mind for my 21st, but unforgettable none the less!
I've got to know which one? I was a DG at UND.
Happy Birthday to OP, and mine was speant with my ex who had just got home from Iraq and a few friends that had fakes at a pub in St. Paul. Nothing to big because most of my friends weren't 21 yet since I have a September birthday!
I was still in college and the legal drinking age here is 19. However I definitely had a wonderful birthday out on the town with my friends - that was one of the most memorable years of my life!
My birthday is Dec 19. My 21st was over Christmas break my senior year of college. All my friends and I were at our parents' houses for Christmas. My parents had moved twice since I left home for college, so I had no local friends.
I think we had dinner out and made pina coladas at home. It was anti-climactic. I don't really remember.
I turned 21 a month ago, and I also couldn't celebrate in style. :P
So instead, I took advantage of my other recently acquired privilege and I went to bingo with my mom, grandma, and FI. I ordered a red wine, took a sip, and realized it was gross.
Then we got dinner and blew some money on slot machines. Overall, pretty fun.
