I have been working at home for 6 years... my son is 15 months old and now they are opening an OFFICE! Ahh no... I need a new sah job. I have a nanny 3x a weeks etc. I do not want to drive 52 miles to the city one way...
What is a good sah job? What is a good job hunting website I am SO out of the loop..
This SUCKS! Thanks girls.
Re: Working from home
For starters, do you know that your company won't allow you to continue WAH? They may work with you and allow you to remain home for at least part of the week. I also WAH, like most people I know that have WAH jobs I got this gig by continuing to work/consult for a company I work for/with. Do you have clients or the like that you may have opportunities with? Otherwise, polish up your resume, join LinkedIn and start using various job search engines like monster.com and others that may be industry specific. Also check the websites of companies you are familiar with or interested in for job postings. And, because I feel like I have to, unless you only work 3 days a week, most companies won't find it acceptable to only have child care for 3 days each week while you WAH. Good luck!
I agree with previous posters..check to see if your company will continue to allow you to work from home. My company has office locations and I work from home. A couple of years ago they decided to do away with all reimbursable work from home expenses (paying phone, internet, etc) and said well, if you don't like it you can work from the office. My nearest office location is about 60 miles away with hellish traffic so I decided to take one for the team (my family) and suck it up and pay my working expenses so that I can continue to WAH. It really was just another phone line I am paying for as the internet we would always have anyway. See if your company would agree to that sort of situation...you continuing to work from home but paying those remote expenses. In the end they really don't add up to all that much if you consider what sort of commuting expenses you'd have otherwise.
Edit - I have full time childcare too...
