Austin Babies

Nanny Share with me in Cedar Park :)

I'm due September 15th, and looking to find another mom/family to nanny share with starting around January.  I live in Forest Oaks (183A/Brushy Creek), and the nanny could work out of my house, or we could figure out a schedule if you live close.

Ideally no more than 2-3 children total, and infant-todler age.  I am looking to avoid all the daycare pitfalls (recurrent illness, biting, diaper rash, high ratios) and I believe a nanny share would prove both economical for us parents and more beneficial to the children.

Email me directly at little_red8@yahoo.com, or reply to this post!  I look forward to hearing from you!

hmm...wondering how much this runs. I'm due in Nov and south is very convenient for me. I live in Kyle but work in S. Austin.

  • Well to find someone decent, I think the compensation would be somewhere between $1600-2000/month depending on how you paid them, and the expectations.  The high end day cares in Cedar Park/Round Rock run at least $1200 a month, so split between 2 families you are getting a much smaller ratio and less illness exposure than being in a daycare facility and for a lower cost.

i'm in south austin too. we should chat.

  • If you have 3 kids/babies to one nanny, you're not getting a "much smaller ratio".. Ratio where I teach is 1:4 but we usually have it 1:3. I totally see the benefit in nanny shares (as I was once a shared nanny and it was great), but recurrent illness and biting (for the older babies/toddlers) were not eliminated from the equation. Good luck finding someone. If you don't find someone here, does your neighborhood have a community bulletin board or website to advertise yourself?

There are several good daycares in the CP/Leander area that are less than $1200 a month.  Stepping Stones near me has a good program for about $800 a month.  I would say Good luck finding someone in that range that is going to work with 2 families and take care of 2-3 children.  I tried to find someone in that range and it didn't work out.  I now pay about $2400 a month for two kids in my home.

Very interesting. I would definitely prefer nanny sharing with 3 moms over 15. Should we get a PM started?
