does anyone personally know of anyone who actually had a uterine rupture from a VBAC?
This is so crazy bc i am not even pregnant again yet...but i am having such anxiety about finding a doctor that takes my insurance and will let me have a trial of labor.
thanks ladies, i love this board and lurk all the time...hopefully i will have some input soon!
Re: wierd question
I know a few women in person that experienced a UR while trying for a VBAC, and I know dozens of women in person that had successful VBACs. But understand that UR's can happen to women with no c/s history. And UR's can have very different outcomes depending on a variety of factors, so while someone may know a woman who had a UR... it does not change the statistics. The odds are still very much in your favor!
FWIW, I would have preferred to find a provider for my VBAC before I was pregnant again.... That would have lowered my anxiety a ton! GL and HTH!

Ditto. There is a poster who posts occasionally on here who had a rupture. She's the only one I've ever seen on TB who had one.
In real life, I only know 3 or 4 people who've tried to have a VBAC at all, so that's nowhere near a large enough sample size for something that happens so rarely.
Exactly. I don't personally know anyone who has had a rupture, but I also don't know of many who have had VBACs either. I have seen several failed, but several successful VBACs--more successful than non-successful.
I have worked in three states, in five different hospitals, so I have seen many deliveries.
Stats say with 2 years btwn pregnancies, your chances of rupture are as low as a "virgin" uterus. You have the best chances of VBAC if you have at least 18 months btwn deliveries, and the risk is only slightly higher.
