TTC After a Loss

Charting again after a MC?

Hi Ladies, I'm 10 days out after a D&C, bleeding has stopped and I'm ready to move past this.  I'm starting to wonder when I should start charting again- I was mostly temping and using opk's the month we got pregnant.  I've read that many ovulate the month they have a D&C and before their first AF returns.  So when did everyone start charting again?

My follow-up is exactly 2wks after my procedure( a few days from now) and we plan to start TTC again as soon as we can and are OK'd to.  I feel like I'll start to find more comfort if I think that my body is back to it's pre-preg cycle....

Thanks for the input!

Re: Charting again after a MC?

  • I'm sorry for your recent loss. I started charting again right after my D&C because I wanted to be able to tell when to expect my period. And I felt like temping gave me some control over an otherwise out of control situation. I think you can start charting anytime. Good luck to you!

  • I am also 10 days out from a D&C and I am going to start charting the first day AF returns that would be CD 1 from what I understand.

I'm sorry for your loss.  I started charting again right away to have a better idea of what was going on with my body.

  • I had a natural m/c and started charting when I was still bleeding.  I was temping but have decided to stop for a bit.  I am still charting CM.

ETA: I am so sorry for your loss.

  • I'm sorry for your loss.  It's true many women O after a m/c or d&c.  If you're already in the habit of charting you may as well start any time. Like you said, that will give you an idea of what's going on with your body post m/c.

I will say, don't be surprised if things are a bit all over the place the first few cycles.  My cycle certainly is, but at least with charting I feel like I somehow have a better understanding. Good luck!

  • I started charting the day after I miscarried with both m/cs, because I wanted to see what my body was going to do. And my cycles are so irregular, charting is good because it lets me know when to expect AF. I think you can start anytime. Good luck. And I'm so sorry for your loss.

  • I am so sorry for your loss. I did not have a D&C so I cannot tell you from that aspect...but if it were me (and even though I had an early chemical pregnancy this is what I am doing...) I would just start immediately, a soon as the bleeding stopped.

I never stopped charting, and I plan to just continue.

  • I wish I had charted the month of my m/c, because now our first month TTC again, my chart is a little wonky, and i'm a little confused about what's going on. I say the sooner the better.
