Just back from the NT Scan...

What an amazing ultrasound!  LO was just laying there at first and I asked the tech if that was ok.  She said "oh it's just asleep...they do it just like we do!"  Then, when the wand hit in a certain spot, LO started jumping around and waving it's arms and legs like it was mad that we'd woken it up!!Big Smile

Heartbeat was 178 (167 last time), measuring perfectly 11 weeks.  Very pronounced nose bone and very thin liquid on the neck, so it looked PERFECT!  DH couldn't figure out why the screen had become blurry, but he realized that the tears in his eyes were making it blurry.  That was a very touching moment.

All of the worry from last night and all day today for nothing.  My blood pressure was up a little, but I'm sure it's from the massive anxiety attack I've been having.  So, that's it for today...time to enjoy the holiday weekend!  Thank you ladies for being so supportive..I love this board!

  • This might be a stupid question but I see everyone talking about "NT scans." What does NT stand for?

NT stands for "Nuchal translucency."  They do an ultrasound to test the fluid on the back of the baby's neck and the presence of a nasal bone.  It's an indicator of trisomy abnormalities (down's syndrome and two others that usually don't result in a live birth)

It's done between 11 and 14 weeks, that's why you're reading about so many of them on this board now.

  • Yay!  Good news :)
