I would get the big ziploc bags and put two or three Barbies in each. then get a rubbermaid storage box and store them. That's what I did with my Barbies before I moved out of my parents house. I think they donated them now, but if I had a daughter that's what I would do.
Great question. We only have 1 Barbie, DD has been into the Littlest Pet Shop mostly, but she is getting a few Barbies for her Birthday and for Christmas next year, so I will have to come up with something. I probably will do either the rubbermaid storage or get a pretty storage holders from Thirty One. (Thirty One storage is what we use now for their Littlest Pet Shop and her Little People and it works well.
DD has three or four Barbie-type dolls. They are stored in an Itso container from Target. It is about 12" long and 4 or 5 inches wide. The container fits inside a larger cube-shaped container, also from Itso.

a rolling suitcase works great. You can tote them from room to room and the zippered mesh part is great for small shoes, bags and other things you don't want to lose. HTH

I bought a tin bucket - it is actually with all the Easter stuff at Target now - and I just toss the dolls and any of their stuff in it. It is easy for the girls to get stuff out of and makes clean-up super easy.
