question about periods

Im wondering if anyone else has the same thought as me...

it seems to me that as i am getting older my periods tend to be much more uncomfortable.  I have much more cramping and pain and noticed it just changes and is kind of worse as i age =(

anyone else experience this? just curious...

Hope you all have a great evening!

Re: question about periods

  • A tmi warning is pretty much a given, right?

Mine became much worse after having kids. The Pill helped. Well, the second one I tried did. I had to use a low estrogen pill. Also, switching to the Diva cup from tampons helped lessen the amount of bleeding and the intensity of my cramps, which is not that uncommon. I think it has to do with the fact that the blood is allowed to flow out more easily.

Talk to your Gyn about this, there are a lot of things you can do to manage the symptoms. You shouldn't just have to deal with it.

  • I don't have experience with this, but my mom's got progressively worse as she got older.  She ended up being diagnosed with endometreosis (sp?) and eventually had a partial hysterectomy.  Not trying to scare you but definitely talk to your OB.  You shouldn't have to just deal with it.

  • Mine have always been pretty bad (like pass out from the pain bad) but they have definitely gotten worse over the years - more painful, longer and heavier. As it turns out I have endometriosis and also had a fibroid so that kind of explains it all for me.
  • Yes!

Mine have gotten worse after each baby and horribly worse after getting my tubes tied.

Mine were pretty unbearable as a teenager - more due to perception than actually difference, I think.  All the cramping went away for the 3 years after I had my kids though, and came back with a vengeance when they did come back.  Instead of a day of aches and pains, I get 3 days of it.  Weee.  I think it's just making up for lost time.  Kind of like when I didn't have a period for 9 months while I was pregnant and then bleed for 10 weeks postpartum.
  • Thanks ladies!  I will definitley talk to my OB/GYN, to make sure there isnt any underlying problem but also for recommendations on ways to alleve it.

  • I used to have bad cramps, now I have none (except last month when I had an early loss). the flow has gotten worse though, especially the first two days.
