I'm 5w pp and have twice had random bouts of feeling like I got hit by a truck. I get achy all over, tired, and run a low-grade fever of 99-100. The first time was a week and a half ago and lasted a day then went away on its own. When I got up for LO's 5am feeding last night, the same thing had hit. I just felt achy all over, had a headache, low fever, and was a bit nauseous. I went back to sleep after feeding and felt the same when I woke up at 9am, so I took Tylenol, fed LO and went back to sleep. I got up around noon and still feel a little achy and off, but the fever is gone.
I am BFing but don't have any breast pain or redness. Any idea what this could be? I put in a call to my OB and am waiting to hear back, but figured I'd look for other mommies that may have experienced this weirdness in the meantime. I expect the ick feeling to just go away, since that's what happened last time. But it sucks dealing with it while it's here. Thank god DH is home this week!
Re: Low grade fever & aches that come and go?
Come to think of it, my boobs were pretty engorged throughout the night. Maybe they are tied together. I was getting up every 2 hours to feed LO because my boobs needed some relief.

that happened to me and i was told that it's more than likely just your hormones regulating. if the fever lasts 24 hours then it could be an infection leading to mastitis even if you don't have specific symptoms of that (breast soreness/redness etc). i have mastitis now and the first 15 hours or so felt the exact same as when i had fever/chills due to hormones. if the fever goes away it's probably nothing but if it lasts 24 hours you may want to be seen just to be on the safe side. this is all according to my doctor.
I was told this also. I would wake up in sweats and felt like I had the flu.
