I know there are a bunch of us expecting multiples, and I'm wondering how I'm doing (in comparison to others) with weight gain.
I'm 13 weeks today, and I've gained 9 lbs. I'm overweight (I just made it into obese teritory according to my BMI) and according to Dr. Luke's book I should still gain 20 lbs by 20 weeks. I've been eating healthy for the most part, but since DD was small, I'm trying to do everything I can for bigger babies.
How far along are you, and how much weight have you gained?
Re: Weight gain for MoM's
I have Dr. Luke's book, although haven't opened it yet;) I've gained about 9 pounds so far, at 15.5 weeks. I was holding steady at 5, and the other 4 really popped on in the last week or so.
I only gained 23 pounds with my DD, and most of that was at the end, so I'm really struggling with this. My OB told me since I was of average weight pre-preg that I shouldn't gain much more than I did with my DD, so my goal is 30-35. OB is obviously NOT a fan of Dr. Luke, lol.
I'm 15+ weeks and have gained 12lbs. I was average weight to start with and have been trying to gain as fast as I can. It was really hard at first, but it's starting to get easier. I gained 2lbs last week and I'm hopeful that trend will continue! I've started trying to get snacks that are high protein, high calorie & high fat (good fat of course). It's really hard to find things like yogurt, cheese, etc. that aren't low fat. I've resorted to eating baby yogurt:) I've also started adding brown rice protein powder to smoothies in the morning. I think that is helping me pack on the lbs!
Good luck!
I've gained 12-14 pounds at 16 weeks, just an estimate because I haven't weighed myself in about a week. I was only up 4 pounds at my 9 week appointment, and up another 6 at my 13 week! Those 4 weeks were the worst of my m/s and the only thing that sounded good to me was terrible food...loaded baked potatoes, mozzarella sticks, cheeseburgers...it was not good.
I have been feeling better the last few weeks but getting more headaches if I go too long without eating, so I have stopped eating "meals" and started snacking all day long on healthy things. I don't count calories but I do make a conscious effort to eat lots of protein. I'm hoping I will be very close to 20 by 20 if not right there.
My mom only gained 22 pounds when she was pregnant with me and my sister (I'm an identical twin), and we were just over 4 and 5 pounds! I told her that she should have eaten more ice cream, because her low weight gain is the reason we were born with no eye brows or eye lashes
I've actually lost three lbs
But I had an appointment today and asked my ob about it and he said he wouldn't worry too much about it. He said when I get to third tri if I'm not packing on any weight then we'll have a problem.
And it's not like I'm not eating but I did have really bad morning sickness during first tri.
It's the first time in my life I want to gain weight and I can't.
I have gained 9 lbs i think. I asked my MFM about it and specifically Dr. Luke's book last week. He said he has seen her lecture a handful of times and while he respects her, he believes she is a bit of an extremist and there is no reason I should feel the need to gain that much weight unless I was underweight (which I am very clearly not.)
Hell, I am so hungry all the time I just might make that goal regardless of trying. Are you guys not starving constantly??
