Infertility Veterans

newbie- not really-need some input...

Hello everyone!

One of my best friends is a member of this board and has told me what wonderful and helpful people are on here. I have been a lurker for some time, but this is my first post.

I have been trying now for 9mo to get pregnant with baby #2 (I was told I couldnt get pregnant and was seeing an RE when surprise BFP with baby #1!). I went back to the RE in December of 2010 as I dont ovulate (no PCOS per the RE). I have done a round of Femera with poor response and then did a cycle with Menopur.

My last cycle with Menopur I stimmed for 11 days (yes, 11 days) and only got one follicle. I started my last cycle on 75IU of Menopur for 5 days and my follicles were barely growing at CD8 (3 at 10mm). So my dose was upped over time until CD 14 when I was finally allowed to trigger. Did the IUI and BFN.  Had to wait 2 weeks for cysts to go away, now I am in my next cycle with Menopur.

This cycle they started me on 150IU of Menopur since I had such a slow response last time.  I went in today for my CD8 US and I had 3 measurable follicles at 11,10 & 10. Almost the same as last month, but I am on double the Menopur dose! So frustrating. WAiting on call back from nurse on E2 levels to see where we go from here.  Any one else have a response like this? Just wanting to reassure myself that my body is not the only one that grows follicles slow no matter what the FSH/LH dose.

What makes it worse is we are paying for all this out of pocket. 2 vials of Menopur a night is expensive and I am sure they are going to up my dose to more tonight.

((sigh))

TIA-

Me 32 anovulation, all labs ok, DH 35 perfect
2008 first RE appt, Rx Provera to start medicated cycle, surprise BFP!
6/09 Beautiful, healthy DD born by csection!
6/10 start TTC #2
12/10 onto RE d/t no ovulation
1/11 first cycle on Femera/TI poor response= BFN
2/11 cysts- BCP
3/11 Menopur/ IUI #1, one mature follicle= BFN
early 4/11 cysts, more BCP
4/11 Menopur overstim on CD12 10 follicles, cycle canceled
Forced break for at least 6 weeks

you silly dummy! you merely have questions about infertility- you don't qualify as an IFveteran.

  • Arnbride,

I am sorry you are having a hard time.  It sucks when we don't respond how we expect to (believe me I TOTALLY understand that!).  I agree with previous poster about AMH, etc testing.  Sounds like they need some more info!  I wish you the best of luck!

Also, as for posting here versus Infertility board, like May said, this is more for emotional support/etc when you have been around longer and made connections with PAIFers and SAIFers (pregnant and success IFers), kind of like a meeting place for friends (if that makes sense).  The infertility board gets a little more traffic and someone there might have info for you about a similar situation if none of the IFVets have the info!  I would post the same question there too!

I hope you get some answers (or success this cycle!).  Sometimes crappy weird cycles surprise us with positives, that is what I am trying to remind myself after my crappy cycle!

Just ignore her, she wants you to respond...

OP: Sorry, I should have answered your question as well as directing you to the IF board. I think that even if you are a slow responder, you are responding which is good. You definitely don't want more follies than that for an IUI, and even if you take a couple extra days to stim if they are growing and your E2 is rising it will be fine. GL!
