crib vs pack n play vs cosleeper

We travel to my dad's (a 2-hr drive) a lot in the summer and need to sort out where DD will sleep when we're there.  She's 2 months old now but ideally we can find a solution that she can sleep in this summer and next summer.

At home she sleeps in an Arms Reach Mini Cosleeper which DH wants to bring out there with us.  IMO, it's a pain to fold up and too heavy to be dragging back and forth.  But I also wouldn't want to just get another one for my dad's house as I don't think she'll fit in it for too long.

I have no experience with a Pack n Play -- is that a good option?  Or we can get the regular sized Arms Reach Cosleeper.  Or we can just get a regular crib.  Any help would be appreciated...

  • I wouldn't get another crib.  I have no experience with co-sleepers, but I think a pack n play would work just fine.  That's what we use when we travel.

  • i would not purchase another crib. but i think a another cosleeper or a pack and play would be a great idea. we are planning on using the pack and play for her to sleep in when we go away. we are just buying a matress insert for it. the insert is like $40.00 and i think it is well worth it.

  • we have all 3. I would vote get a pack n play. I agree with you that the ARMC is not easy to fold up. Even though it is smaller than the pack n play when set up it's much heavier! The pack n play is easy to fold up and it's lighter to transport.
