I want to do a photo wall in our family room, but I have no idea how to do it. We have one long wall in the room that has a couple of prints on it now that I will remove, but I'm not sure what the placement should be given where the furniture is in the room. I also don't know how much is too much or not enough.
Here are a couple pics of the room (please ignore the clutter):
Here is the other side of the room for perspective, there are only windows really.
I have several different sizes of frames I can use. Anybody want to suggest how many/what size/placement on that long wall so that it looks good? I think it looks kind of odd now the way the prints are centered over the sofa, but not centered on the wall if that makes sense.
Re: NBR: I need decorating help with a photo wall
Post and run....
I would center on the wall
Use this blog post as inspiration:

Katie: 1/16/08 2lbs. 15oz.
Abby & Emily: 12/31/10 6lbs. 2oz. & 5lbs. 7oz.
I'd keep it where you have it now, centered over the couch. I understand what you're saying about it not being centered to the wall, but I think it wouldn't look right centered to the wall.
I just made two photo walls at my house. I just figured out how many pictures I wanted and framed them then layed them out on the floor until I had an arrangement I like. I can show you the pictures, but it probably wouldn't help much for your space.
I'd just make sure to do a good mixture of different sizes and make sure they are also a mixture of portrait and landscape so that you don't have too much of the same thing.
Oh, and I just adore your siggy photos. Your boys are so cute!
Jen and I were just talking about this a few weeks ago as I am planning on doing one in our living room too. Here are a few links that I saved that were helpful-

you could trace the frames you have on newspaper and then cut out the newspaper and tape that to the wall until you get the configuration you want. then you can even use it to help you place the nails in the walls too! see this blog post for example...

the one in our living room is laid out pretty evenly/geometric (one in the middle and then more near the four corners of the original picture - does that make sense?) but let me say that I am a big fan of random placing with a ton of pictures from multiple eras. This is how the walls in my staircase are. To me it feels homey and comfortable like there is no much love and so many good memories that NEED to be on the wall.
As for centering, mine are centered on the wall but that wall has only a chair and the entertainment center in the corner. Personally on long walls like that I am a fan of centering on the wall.
