Anterior Placenta?

I totally diagnosed myself with this before the tech confimed it yesterday. BOO! I've felt tiny flutters here and there but they are few and far between. I was so looking forward to feeling movement earlier with this one... with DS I felt him right at 18ish weeks and kicks at 21.. so right on with "normal"

If you had/have an anterior placenta how much longer did it take you to feel movement?

TIA!

Re: Anterior Placenta?

  • I had one. I didn't really feel like I was behind everyone else. It didn't really bother me too much. I don't know what a regular placed one feels like though so I am probably not the best to ask.

  • I am kind of like Nicole in that I dont really have anything to compare it to but I will say that I wasnt positive I was feeling the baby move until I was at least 21 weeks along. Once I realized that it was in fact the baby I realized that I actually felt him earlier at like 18-19 weeks but just very very faintly. I also never really had the moments where I could feel him kick and see it on the outside of my belly (if that makes sense?) There was like 1 or 2 times that I kinda saw a little pop on the outside but that was when I was like 35+ weeks. But Nick was also VERY small so that could have played a part too.

  • I had an anterior placenta with Justin and first felt movement at 20 weeks.  It was just little bubbles, like soda pop or popcorn popping.  I didn't feel actual kicks, rolls, etc., until more like 25 weeks.  And DH couldn't feel him externally until after 30 weeks.

When the baby is larger, you will feel just as much movement, but it will probably feel a little different.  You will never really be able to see much from the outside.  My placenta was posterior with Tyler so I had both, but I had the anterior first.

Since you have been pregnant before, you will know what you're feeling.  But I wouldn't be surprised if it were around the same time in pregnancy that you felt it the first time.

  • I did with Ethan and felt him around 19.5 weeks, it felt like a fish swimming/fluttering by.  I have it again now with Isabella, and I think I felt her yesterday at 20 weeks?  It felt like a short little buzz or maybe like Katie said with bubbles popping, so I wasn't sure... I was at work and kept thinking the locator on my badge in my pocket was going off but it wasn't lol.  I felt it again today and I am not at work, so I am assuming that is the baby!

  • I had one with DS. I didn't feel any real movement until about 20 weeks, and it felt like gas bubbles. I didn't start feeling more consistent movement until about 25-28 weeks. DH felt him move around 30ish weeks? At the end of my pregnancy I would often feel various limbs going up and down my sides.

  • I had one as well - I first starting feeling good movement (besides flutters, popping, etc.) around 23-24 weeks. I felt & saw a lot of movement still because Nolan turned head down pretty early on. I got good kicks & jabs up in my ribs & Kevin could start to feel him around 25 weeks (barely here & there). He REALLY could feel him at around 29 weeks. I never felt movement on the lower right side where the placenta was located though.
