Okay, I talked to the mama of 3 to be about how she wants the gift wording on her "celebration lunch" invite. She doesn't want diapers, wipes, etc. because she knows most people will bring newborns or size 1s and her other two kids have outgrown those sizes super fast. She also doesn't need any baby clothes.
What she really wants is gift certificates to buy a new carseat and monitor, but thinks it's way too tacky to ask for that (and I agree).
So, what she'd like to somehow ask for is something for mom (herself!). Her only suggestion was "something to help mom adjust to her new life." I know you all are so good at this stuff, so I wanted to see if anyone has ideas.
My first inclination is to simply put "No Gifts Please" and I know everyone in our circle of friends will ignore that and bring a gift, likely something adorable for a newborn, but that's the last thing she needs so I do want to put some sort of gift guideline.
Please help, my creative, diplomatic Nestie friends!
Re: Baby shower - more gift wording help please
btw, which dress did you end up wearing?
Great idea!! You always have the best ideas! I just dropped mama to be a line to suggest that. I think that's probably the way to go - I know I'd be put off with anything too specific on an invite.
I wore the strapless dress, even though I liked the one shoulder dress better. I'm becoming a rental addict!! We have a black tie event next weekend, and I rented two options for that. Then, we just got invited to a "garden attire" benefit next week and I just put in another order. It's my dirty little secret that I'll only admit to Nesties. :-)
ETA: Mama to be loves the idea! Thank you A!!
Oh what fun! Oh what a joy!

The nursery's all ready and everything is here;
But [Susie] still needs some pampering, my dears.
We've planned an afternoon just for the girls.
We'll shower [Susie] with bubble bath, lacy gowns, and pearls.
Lotions and soap and spa inspired treats -
Lots of girly gossip and putting up our feet.
Join us for a special time and plenty of great fun
We're looking forward to it and hope you can come!
