Trouble TTC

Ultrasound Question...

Today was CD 1, and tomorrow my RE wants me to go in for an US before adjusting my medication.. I've had several vaginal ultrasounds, but never while I was still bleeding. Just a little irked out.

Anyone ever dealt with this? I guess I'm just looking for someone to tell me to suck it up and don't worry about being embarrassed... But I'm grossed out.

Re: Ultrasound Question...

  • I have had to do this several times.  The first time really freaked me out but really it is no big deal.  My only advice is to ask to use the restroom as you are walking to the u/s room.  I did this and got myself "prepped" the best I could.  I then went back to the bathroom after the u/s was done.

Trust me, those techs have seen it all!

  • Thanks for your advice ladies.. I know I'll have to calm myself down again in the morning, but you're right... I won't be the first and certainly not the last they see like that! Oh the joys...

  • I was the same way the first time, but the nurse will probably put a pad down on the table.  And like PP they have seen it ALL!

    Good Luck tomorrow ;o)

  • I had an u/s on CD 3 this month. I commented to the nurse about it and she assured me they've seen it all! I went to the bathroom right before they took me back to get myself 'ready' and it really ended up being no big deal. GL!!

  • I just had this done yesterday.....and I was thinking the same thing, I just didn't want to ask. They put an extra pad down on the table. I was talking to DH about it the day before and he cracked a joke about how gross it will be when a baby is coming out of there, but I thought it was funny, he made me giggle, and not feel as weird about it.

Not to mention, this is the heaviest period I have had in a long time.

  • I've never had this done (yet), but I also understand that this is normal procedure.  Don't worry, it's what your body is supposed to do and the Drs and nurses know that.

  • I haven't had that particular joy yet- but it's coming- gotta do it to see if my cyst is gone- and am assuming it will be after I get AF.

  • yep, like everyone said, it's not a big deal because they've seen it a million times. I felt really awkward too, and worried that I would "leak through" my gown, but it was fine. like several people said, go to the bathroom right before and after. that made me feel a lot better and a little less icky.
