Does anyone know what the chances of conceiving the first month are? or has anyone conceived the first month of trying? I got the ovulation kit and went by that...now it's the two week waiting.....

This. I did conceive on the first month with my last pregnancy, so it's possible, but not the norm. This time around we're not so lucky. C'est la vie.

You have the same chance your first month, as any other month....20% chance. And the 2WW sucks. Definitely check out the newbie link, FF, TCOYF, etc as others have mentioned. The more knowledge you have, the more control you feel you have. Best of luck to you...I hope you are a lucky first cycle gal, and if not, hang around the board. You'll learn a lot!

thanks so much for all the replies...does anyone know the average number of months? My Husband and I have been married 3 and 1/2 years and have all the sudden decided we wanted to start a family so I'm very excited and anxious!!

It's 20% chance each cycle. And 85% of couples having regular unprotected sex will conceive within 1 year. Check out the newbie link at the top, it's very helpful! Welcome!

Ovulation kits aren't 100% proof that you actually ovulated either. Sometimes your body will gear up to O, you will get a + OPK, but ovulation never actually happens.

And also cycles aren't always exactly a month. I only wish I got 12 chances a year to get pregnant. I suggest reading Taking Charge of Your Fertility and educating yourself a little.

I remember seeing something about the percent of couples pregnant with each cycle on babycenter.com. You might try searching around on that site.

I do believe its about a 20% chance if you have sex during the days you are fertile. I conceived my first DS after 3 months and with my second DS we lucked out and got KU the very first month. Now we are trying for our third and final baby but no luck the first month. We are on to cycle number two.
