Watching the Friends where Phoebe gives birth to triplets

Is it really accurate that A) she would deliver triplets vaginally and that the babies would be so huge? Aren't twins, let alone triplets, usually really small? I guess they would have a hard time finding tiny baby actors...

A) No. Would not happen. Twins, maybe, if it was not your first pregnancy and babies were in a good position (and the Dr had experience with vaginal twins), but not triplets or higher order multiples, and likely not in a first pregnancy. The vaginal twin deliveries I saw were done in the OR in case Twin #2 did not move into position or needed to get out for an emergent reason (a/k/a c-section for #2). This was years ago, though, so maybe things have changed.

Unlikely. If my now-10-year-old NICU knowledge holds, triplets average slightly less than 4# each at "term" for multiples, which is usually a few weeks early. They would not be able to get preemies on the show, so that's probably the reason for the full termers *pretending* to be newborns.

LOL, I don't know why it bugs me, but I was just watching it thinking how dumb it was to have her pushing out 3 8lb babies.

I just watched it with DH and said that same thing. Everyone in the room with her, no nurses, no IV, huge babies. But I love Friends, so it is ok.

LOL I always catch these things! DH says I pay more attention to the little details than the whole story line...oh well! Glad to see someone else does, too!
