I always wonder what women are thinking about with regard to motherhood. For example, I'm not really a "baby" kind of person (I do like them, so don't flame me please), but I have such an amazing, friendship-like relationship with my Mom, and I wonder what it would be like to have an adult child one day--someone with whom I can have that kind of connection. I also know some women who truly love babies, and want nothing more than to care for an infant. I also know some folks that just love exploring the world with their children. Clearly, your children will come as babies, grow into children, and then becomes adults--so, which stage do you think about most often when dreaming about motherhood? I'm sure we'll appreciate all stages, but I just thought it was a fun question....

I honestly look forward to all of it. I'm a baby person, I love infants. I'm excited for a child too. My friends who have 4, 5, 6 year olds...they are having a blast, their kids are so funny. I imagine the teenage years are not so fun, lol! I look forward to having the adult relationship my mother and I have now too.
DH on the other hand, has gone straight to the child years! He isn't wild about babies, (although I have no doubts he'll be great with his own) but could play with kids all day long. He gets so jealous when he sees the neighborhood kids out playing "Capture the Flag" nightly in the summer. I have to remind him that he can't run out and ask if he can play with them because he would like be perceived as a complete creeper.
I mostly dream about the toddler stage. However, I was watching parenthood last night and the father was talking about his dream of becoming a grandfather even before he was married. It made me start to think of my own potential grandchildren and my adult children. I have thought about the baby stage and the teenage years but that was the first to think of having an adult child.
This is a fun question.

The baby stage is not my favorite either. I love the age DS1 is at right now (4). The things he comes up with is just incredible; he keeps us laughing. I really look forward to the years to come. I used to be a College counselor and I love the teen/young adult age too. So full of life and anticipation--it is fun to be a part of it (preparing them for adulthood).
Overall, I think it also depends on the child. DS1 was a tough baby so I can't say I really enjoyed it the way I wished I would have, but DS2 is a great baby and I really loved it and do miss it.

LOL
I always imagine the child phase. No particular age, just old enough to do things together (play, etc) and have conversations. Babies are ok, but as they get older they get WAY more interesting. At least to me.

Im not going to pretend that the teenage years dont make me worry a little. Things are so different now compared to when I was growing up I cant even imagine what it will be like by the time I have a child who is a teenager. DH works with high schoolers and the stories I hear...ugh-but its a package deal and you do what you can the best you can. On that note, I lurve me some babies!
All of this...except I work with 10 year olds so I agree with the actual kid part x 100 especially at this point in the school year!
I think about the toddler stage most often, I can't wait to show my child new things and watch them with all kinds of experiences. As a photographer, I love working with children at this age, they're so carefree and trusting, and often hilarious:) I'm looking forward to all of it though. I'm just so excited to have a family!
Babies scare me a little. Childhood is awesome. Then, when they're adults, I suspect it's probably bittersweet that, after all the raising you've done, they're off on their own. All that said, I probably prefer the childhood phase, but I think the most fascinating thing about becoming a mom... that make my heart go pitter-patter is watching them from that first +HPT that indicates their existence, to the first US, to meeting them to the first time on down the road to seeing them get married and have kids of their own.
Wow... I almost made myself tear up a little. I wanna be a mommy. We all do. After all, that's why we're here.
Good question!
I give riding lessons to girls ranging in ages of 8-13. I cannot wait to have a LO in that age group. I keep thinking of all the fun things we can do and how I can't wait to be a 'horse show mom'.
