New House Question

So, we got this new house with a nice master bathroom. It has the separate water closet (toilet only) which is really narrow. Anyway, since I am used to having the cabinets right next to the toilets to store my tampons and tp and stuff, now there is no where to put that. I put it in a basket beside the toilet but now its "out" and open so you can see all my tampons and such which is OK since its just me and DH but he might not want to look at all that. Most little cabinets are too wide for the space. Anyway, where do you put that stuff so you don't have to figure out an "emergency", IYKWIM. DH hates toilet toppers although I am open to them.

I know this is a pretty dumb storage question but I am the most disorganized person on the planet and with the new house I am trying to turn over a new leaf. I might be asking lots of stupid new homeowner questions so I can figure out my hoard.

Our setup is like this too. If i need a tampon, i just get one out of the cabinet first. Or if you are caught offguard, finish your business in the bathroom, go get a tampon if you decide you need one and go back. No big deal.

Can you do something like this? I'm not sure how narrow your closet is, but this is only 22" wide. There are plenty of others like this out there. I need to invest in one since you've brought this up because I just leave the box of tampons on the back of the toilet since DH & I are the only ones to use our bathroom.

I agree that it isn't that big of deal to grab one from out in the main bathroom area but what about just a small decorative box with a lid that you put on top of the tank? Or I have seen the toilet paper storage towers that have a small drawer at the top.

I keep a narrow basket on top of the tank for extra toilet paper in the little toilet room. I guess you could stash some tampons and stuff in there. I keep everything in the main cabinets, maybe you are over thinking a little bit?

I have one those things that you can stack 3 rolls of toilet paper so when you need a new roll you can just grab it out of there. As far as tampons go - I just keep the box in the toilet room for the 4 or 5 days I need them. My husband isn't 15, so he doesn't turn red and run out of the room when he sees a box of tampons. He understands how these things work.

Could you find a little woven basket/box with a top? It would probably look less cluttered and you could keep all of your necessities in there.

For toilet paper I have a 3 roll holder that hangs off the toilet tank and i LOVE it. As far as tampons, a small zipper pouch that you could put behind the toilet for when you need them maybe?

This. Or cute storage box. If its just for emergencies, then it doesn't need to hold a weeks supply.

I got a shelf to put above the toilet at Ikea and a basket to put on the shelf to hold tp.

I guess I am weird in that I don't care if dh has to look at tampons sitting on the toilet when it is in our master bathroom. I wouldn't do it in the powder room that everyone uses, but our bathroom? Eh, I don't care. Saying that I am sure you could get some sort of basket to put on top of the tank to 'hide' them away if you don't want to leave them out.

I leave mine on the back of the toilet wide open for him to see. Or, I keep under the sink and get them on my way to the toilet.

Thanks! I think DH isn't so much weirded out at he is just not wanting clutter around. And I need to keep something in there bc I haven't had a period since before P and I have no idea when Flo is coming back! (And I do hope she does....) I have an open basket in there but I think I will see how that goes plus the TP holder. Might look around for something in the clearance aisle at Homegoods or Tuesday Morning or Target. Definitely want to spend minimal on this one.

We have the same setup and I keep my stuff in a little basket that doesn't have a top. Works for us. I really like that wall cabinet. I have been wanting one of those.
