We made it!

Hi Everyone!

We made it Down Under! The flights were long but uneventful. And the trip itself has been good. The flight to Sydney was long. Leah was a trooper though. She fell asleep just as we were taking off and slept for almost 10 hours. Once she woke up she had breakfast and watched a few videos on the computer. About 45 minutes before we landed she went down for a nap and woke up as we were getting off the plane. When we boarded the plane in LA you could see that the people around us weren?t too pleased to have a kid flying near them. We apologized in advance and everyone was nice about it. When we got off the plane in Sydney everyone said she was amazing and did really well during the flight. We worried a lot beforehand but Leah flew like a seasoned traveller.

We got to our hotel about 7am and since our rooms weren?t ready yet we went up to the roof top pool to find an amazing view of Sydney Harbor and the Opera House. We had a full morning of touring the city and came back to the hotel for a much needed nap. Leah had tried to go down for the night at about 3pm Sydney time. We wanted to get her started on the time change transition so at 6pm we put her in her stroller and walked to grab some dinner. She woke up a few minutes into our walk with a confused smile. She couldn?t understand why we were letting her wake up at 1am and not trying to get her back to sleep. After dinner we got back to the hotel and Leah went back to sleep about 9pm and slept until 5am. Since then her sleep patterns are somewhat back on track.

When we flew to our new home the next day the airline told us we couldn?t take the car seat on the plane. We had missed the preboard announcement and a Qantas engineer had to install the car seat. Since it was less than a 3 hour flight we decided to check the car seat and let Leah sit in the seat like a big girl. She loved it! She had her blanket, the flight attendant gave her a pillow, and before takeoff she had made herself comfortable and went down for a nap. She woke up in time to eat lunch, look out the window, and land in Alice Springs.

We got to our new house Friday and spent the weekend settling in. We?ve taken drives to find our way around the town and to get used to driving on the right side of the road. DH had me drive one time. That lasted about 15 minutes. I can?t drive with him in the car?he drives me crazy! I?ll go out and drive the outer edges of town while DH is at work.

I'll post pictures as soon as I get a better connection.  Sorry this was so long. Hope everyone is doing well. Have a great Easter!
