NCP: When did you stop taking baby aspirin?

I swear I saw a post about this a while back but couldn't remember which board it was on, so I'm sorry if it's a repeat offender!

I assumed I would take baby aspirin throughout the whole pregnancy. My RE told me to take it when I was ttc and never told me when to stop. My ob knows I'm on it and hasn't told me to stop. I have hetero MTHFR on C677, but all my clotting tests they did came back fine. Then I hear that continuing it past the first trimester could be bad? Am I the only one not in the know?!

I'm taking the low dose 81mg and my doctor told me that I don't have to stop it at all. A lot of docs have you stop a few weeks before delivery (for bleeding), but my doc said it's too low of a dose to cause more bleeding.

I stopped it at 36W (I was between appts and thought I had to), but will start it up again a few weeks PP.

I was told 20 weeks; however, I was on it due to being diagnosed with a superficial blood clot. I've been taken off it now because I needed Lovenox injections due to additional clotting complications.

I posted a question about this too awhile ago, but it makes sense now as to why I was told to stop around 7 weeks ...it was because I had a subchoronic bleed. Many of the ladies that replied stated they took the aspirin throughout their pregnancy. I would ask you doctor just to be sure.

I also have Hetero MTHFR and all my other test came back fine, I just take the baby aspirin and high doses of folic acid.

My dr said we would talk about coming off around 36 weeks, I had a C-section with DD and lost a lot of blood, so we will discuss the plan closer to that time.

Thanks for your replies ladies! I have a Dr. appt tomorrow so I plan on asking him then. I like taking it, but not sure if that's just for my own sanity Smile

I have compound hetero MTHFR and have been taking BA daily since Feb (b/f conceiving). My OB said I should stop at 36 weeks unless I have any bleeding prior to that. Then I'd go off of it immediately.

I have the same dx as you and I'm still taking a BA every day. My OB said I don't ever have to stop taking it. He thinks it's beneficial even when not TTC or pg.

My OB wants me on it till sometime in the third trimester. I am going to push for coming off as late as possible. If it isn't broken, don't fix it. I think it can be dangerous for women that don't have clotting disorders though which might be why you heard that.

Crazy how there are so many different opinions.

I have the same dx as you and like a PP said, I also just took a higher dose folic acid and baby aspirin. I was told by my OB to stop taking it at 37w as I was scheduled for a c/s at 38w. Well, I went into labor at 37w and I had taken my supposed last aspirin probably about 20 hours before I had surgery. I was fine. But as always, everyone is different!!
