Monday was just a standard day of waiting and hoping and was conviced that we were going to be induced on Wens the 23.
We went to workout had lunch and finished projects around the house, in preparation for Wens
Around 4:00 I decided to go for a short walk to see if I could walk this little man, during the walk I started getting some contractions but nothing much more then what I had experienced for the last 3 weeks.
About 5:00 I started getting consistent contractions but they were only about 10 mins apart and figured it was nothing serious but started tracking the contractions just is on the safe side.
From 5:00 -9:30 contractions were still about 10 mins apart and starting to get a little bit more intense but still figured it was a false alarm.
About 9:30 they started getting 7 mins apart then 5 mins and then about 10:00 we figured they were pretty serious called the hospital and they said come on down and get checked worse case scenario it is a false alarm and they will send us home.
We called my dad at 10:10 to come and stay with Brygette and left our house at 10:30 with the contractions at this point about 2 mins apart (it was feeling like the real thing at that point)
From our house to the hospital is normally 15 mins , Bryan made it in 6 mins, he defiantly used all 8 cylinders of our V-8 engine to get us there that fast.
We checked in about 11 PM and I was pretty miserable, they checked m e and I was already at 4 cm this was defiantly the real thing, after dealing with very intense back pain and pressure since arriving at the hospital at about Midnight I asked for a epidural, at about 12:30 I was at 8 cm and got my epidural (never had time for one with Brygette so I was a bit nervous about what to expect it felt great after that not pressure or anything. My Dr (Dr Coury) was on vacation, and Dr Lyons was on call that night. At about 12:45 Dr came in a checked I was at 10 cm and we could start pushing now. A little while later the Dr started taking about the baby being face up and mentioned numerous times during the pushing, and also noticed he had a big head so pushing him out was getting very difficult. We also asked numerous times about his heart rate since Brygette had that issue with her birth, Dr L was great he was very calm and answered all our questions. Since we realized babies head was so big Dr asked if he could use the vacuum to help get him out, after a few attempts and my epidural starting to wear off at about 1:45 Dr asked if he could do a episiotomy to get him out, and I was extremely exhausted from over a hour of pushing . At exactly 2 AM on March 22 Karsten Robert was born he weighed 8 lbs 5 ozs and 19 ? inches tall. I ended up with third 3 degree tears it ends up I have a small pelvis and with the baby face up that is why he had to cut me but once again I was blessed with a quick labor of about 6 hours of leading up to going to hospital and 3 hours of active labor at the hospital, and the exact same amount of time as my labor with Brygette. He is a great eater and amazing sleeper and Brygette loves being a big sister.
And even though I had worries about being in a small hospital and having a different Dr then Dr C there for delivery, my whole experience was wonderful.
I will try to post some pictures soon
