I've been considering the option of having a Doula and would love any feedback or recommendations anyone has on this topic. Was it a good/bad experience? Any recommendations on a particular Doula or service?
Hi there! I love doulas (lol - I am a little biased being one), and even had a doula at each of my own births (yes, doulas have doulas).
There is a great resource to find doulas that are available for your birthing time at doulamatch.net. Just put in your EDD and zip code and it will populate doulas in your area that are available for your birthing time.
I am a part of a cooperative of doulas. We have once a month MaterniTeas where moms and their partners can come and interview 3-4 of us at once, ask any questions they might have, and get a better feel for what a doula does and does not provide. Our next event is April 30th at Young and Restless. If you are interested in coming, feel free to PM me and I will send deets.
I recommend, more than anything, find a doula that YOU click with. I can give you recommendations for your area of town, but, bottom line, you need to PERSONALLY click with her, which is why we always recommend initial interviews before choosing someone. Someone I might think is awesome you might think is too hippy or technical.
Good luck on your search and how awesome for you to be looking into this so early!

We used Kathleen and loved her. We'll use her again next time for sure.
