pregnant and waterslides

Ok I will be calling my ob in  the morning to ask this but because they are closed right now... Does anyone know if it is safe or not to go on a waterslide this early in pregnancy? I would never have considered this until I was talking to a friend of mine and her OB ok'd her to go as long as she used common sense and didnt go on anything crazy. If she questioned a certain slide just dont chance it. The park I would be going to I am very familiar with and know what I would and wouldnt go on. So what do you ladies think? If my OB says its ok would you go?

Re: pregnant and waterslides

  • I would do it. Just don't go diving down the slide on your stomach and remember to cross your legs when you go down. Wink

  • I really don't know. Definitely ask your OB. If they say its ok then I guess you're* good. I don't know if I would do it, but that is just me. My doctor would have to tell me to go for it. See what your doc says, dadonet.

Edited: your vs. you're. Sorry about that! Grammar fail!

  • I probably wouldn't go on one that you had to go down on your stomach or had really intense drops, but, assuming your doctor doesn't see a problem with it, I feel like he ones where you are sitting up in a tube are probably okay.

They might list restrictions at the park too. I feel like I have seen signs that say the pregnant women should not go on this ride. I would probably listen to the signs.

  • Don't they have signs that say if you are pregnant do not ride?
  • The most sliding I do is down the one at the park with my DD. I don't think I'd chance a water slide.

  • This sounds like a terrible idea, and one that I can't even believe would be considered.

They definitely have signs that say this on roller coasters, I'd assume it's the same thing for water slides.  I would ask your doctor, but I personally wouldn't do it.  As someone else said, why risk it?  I love amusement parks, but I can skip the rides and slides for one summer.

  • just so everyone knows Dr and park Okd tube slides but both say no on body slides
  • Honestly...I would totally do slides where I would be sitting in a tube. I would feel more comfortable being in a tube and going down, then not being in a tube and my body taking the whole impact. But like at Great Wolf lodge....those slides in my eyes are not dangerous at all. I would do it in my 1st and probably 2nd trimester....but I dont know about my 3rd.

    Have fun!
