I have a shorter dresser with 3 drawers which has a hutch/shelves above and changing pad on, and I have a taller dresser with 5 drawers plus closet space with two long rows of shelves (although high) which I could hand things from and 4 lower shelves if I recall correctly. Please help me figure out what logically would make the most sense to put where. I'm hoping to get everything I have washed and put away in the next week or 2 and figure out what clothes/supplies if any I need to purchase for immediate use once baby comes. I can't remember for sure what we did with dd. Any pics of your organization would be appreciated too. tia
Re: help organizing dressers & closet, what are you putting where?
Does the hutch/shelves on your changing dresser have doors? If not, I'd put baskets of diapers up there. If so, put diapers in the top drawer of the dresser.
In the rest of the changing dresser, start with your newborn everyday clothing items...sleepers, onesies, baskets of bibs and socks, etc. Start filling the rest of that changing dresser with newborn items, then move to the other dresser.
Fill the other dresser with stacks of larger sized clothes until it is full, then move to the closet. Place stacks of larger sized clothing in baskets or cloth bins on the shelves, along with stacks of blankets. Hang any dressy items that you will seldom use. As the baby gets older remove the outgrown sizes from the changing dresser and shift everything up.
This has worked well for me. I do not hang regular baby clothes. To me, it is too much work and the clothes are not easily accessible that way. I like the clothes I use all the time to be close by the changing area. If there isn't enough shelf space in the closet, I use the fabric hanging shelves for additional space.
