Brazilian Wax *TMI*

Ok so before I got pregnant I kept up on my brazilians but since getting pregnant, I got a little lazy and had to do some major maintenance on my lady parts! I went in yesterday to get a brazilian and it was the most painful thing ever! I've never had my brazilians hurt until yesterday!!! To the point where my v-lines BRUISED! My lady parts were hurting all day yesterday and they were swollen! WTF? This has never happened to me in the history of my brazilians! The lady said its probably because I had more sensitivity and blood flow down there! I know its probably normal but it still blows my mind! Has this happened to anyone too? I let my husband know and I advised him to keep away from that area for a few days ...Tongue Tied <was the look on his face LOL

Re: Brazilian Wax *TMI*

  • Oh yeah and bending over to look at the damage done is uncomfortable because of my little belly...

  • LOL.  I'm sorry to laugh.  This is why I stop getting brazilians when I get pregnant.  Your aesthetician is correct.  There is more blood flowing to your genitals right now and so they're much more sensitive and will continue to be more sensitive throughout your pregnancy.  Totally normal.

  • Crap. There goes that idea for the rest of the pregnancy.
  • Oh and the only reason I got it was because my husband still loves doing "all those things" that we did before I got pregnant and I just felt bad that he would have to work his way through a bush, as if my lowered drive wasn't bad enough for him already LOL. Plus we live out in the desert....and it gets super hot out here so no hair down there is so much better in this weather!

You can always shave while you're pregnant.

  • I had been pondering the idea of getting a brizilian done, and kept up with, until I deliver but....I don't think that will be happening after hearing your expierence.

Sorry to hear that it caused so much pain (and suffering) that must be so uncomfortable. Even tweasing my eyebrows lately has been painful. It's almost like pregnancy makes the hair root grow anchors!

Hopefully all is well (down below) in a few days!

  • I don't think it's that bad for all women. I just had one done 2 weeks ago and it felt the same as it always had. I'm sure yours felt a little worse this time because you went so long without having it done. But if you keep it up now and don't let it get too long, it won't hurt as bad. I'm almost sure of it. I've been getting brazilians every 4 weeks for 11 years and there's no way I'm stopping now. Plus, shaving gives me razor burn.

However, if you've never had your bikini area waxed before pregnancy, now is not the time to start.

That's not good. I was considering getting waxed. I've never had it waxed before and usually just shave it myself but my belly is huge and I can no longer see anything down there. Oh well, here's to being even more uncomfortable than I already am.

  • It's not happened to me, however; I did waxing in a previous life and would refuse to wax inexperienced pregnant woman without having them sign a waiver that informed them of the high possibility of bruising and extreme discomfort.

Most of the time I could offset the bruising by scheduling the waxing for a double window and doing thin strips about an inch wide and two inches long. The smaller the section the more control over the wax and the skin. It was still painful but most of my pregnant clients had very minimal bruising when I waxed that way.

  • The experience you describe is exactly what I had a year ago when I got one done for the first (and last) time and I wasn't pregnant.  Swollen and sore for a few days and it hurt like heck when she did it.  I decided it wasn't worth it!

HAAAAAAAAAAAA!  "...work his way through a bush..."  I love it!  Well, there goes my appointment.  Maybe we should look into using Nair??

  • Um yeah not to be too graphic but there's no way I'm taking a razor to my "inner lips". I mean we all don't grow hair in the same spots, some of us grow hair where we didn't know hair could grow! And the last thing I want is my husband to feel that stubble near his face!(TMI I know). I think the only reason it hurt so bad was because I hadn't been keeping up with the maintenance! I mean I literally bruised! I have a pretty high pain tolerance so I wasn't freaking out on the outside, but on the inside I was crying like a little baby, because it actually did hurt!

I think I'll just have to see what happens next time I go in for the maintenance. I have never swollen or bruised or hurt with a brazilian so I just didn't know if it was normal for it to do all those things now because I am pregnant LOL

The exact same thing happened to me - I got my brazilian a little later than usual and boy did I regret it! Never gonna let my self go like that again (especially while pregnant). But the biggest problem is that now it appears that my skin is also more prone to irritation once the hairs start growing back, which sucks... but it is totally worth it, especially considering the increase in vaginal discharge (now this is TMI...) and play time added fun and sensitivity.

  • Hopefully your Estheticians are applying a cooling agent to your skin after she's done waxing you. It makes it feel so much better. For the irritation, I buy PFB (Perfect For Bumps). It works great and kills the top layers of skin so you don't get ingrowns. It's also important to scrub a little more down there with a loufah to slough off the dead skin. If you can't find PFB, alcohol applied with swabs works well, or just put it in a spray bottle, spray and let it air dry. Don't do this the day of the wax though. Maybe wait a couple days then keep it up. It makes it easier on your esthetician too.

  • Mine weren't that bad with my last pregnancy.  However, the last wax I had before I gave birth was so painful.  I had it done 2 weeks before my due date.  I figured since I was going to have a room full of doctors and nurses staring at my lady parts for what ended up being 3 hours of pushing, I could at least clean it up.  So painful with all the additional blood flow in the region at the end of your pregnancy.  I think I am going to stick to shaving this time.l

  • Thanks for the suggestions on the stuff I can put on!!! I am made of ingrown hairs down there! Weird I know! Tongue Tied
