New to formula, please help

I just started weaning LO from BF with one-two bottles a day. I started with Similac and he wouldn't drink it, so then I switched to Gerber Gentle and he takes it, no problem. Since then (about 5 nights) he has had horrible gas at night. It is waking him up and he is crying until he passes it. This happens all night and it's causing me to get no sleep. Is this normal? Should I switch, or will he get used to it? He had bad gas as a newborn too with BM, but it eventually went away. Thanks for any insight.

    We use the generic form of Enfamil Gentlease which is easier on the tummy and helped Eli with gas pains a lot.

    We had the same problem but with the formulas switched.  She had bad gas on similac and does ok on good start.  We use mylicon drops, she still has gas but not as bad.  Also I have heard gripe water will work as well.

    DS used to be very gassy. We used "Little Tummys" drops for baby gas which seemed to help a lot. We use Sam's Club gentle formula. GL.
