DD will be 24 months when we travel to DC next month for my Grandmother's funeral at Arlington. We're planning to stay with family for the first couple of days but would like to try to do some 'family vacation' types of things while we're there the last few days.
My biggest questions are where are good/safe/cheaper hotels?
Better to rent a car or take public transportation(what kind?)
I got a traveling in DC book to show me some good sights to see while we're there but I have a lot of concern over transportation/hotel. Worst case scenario we're at a hotel that's safe but a bit of a drive from the sights. Any input is greatly appreciated!!
We'll be there the week before Memorial Day so things are booking up fast, too!
Re: "Vacationing" in DC; hotel/travel suggestions?
i would stay in crystal city (arlington, va). you can very easily get to the metro and you are only a couple of stops away from the smithsonian stops and the national mall stops.
try the "name your own price" on priceline for the crystal city area of arlington. select 3.5* hotels and shoot for a price between $70 and $90/night.
