DH and I are taking our first trip where we will both be away from the boys. Do we need a living will? Any ideas what is necessary, or if people do this anymore?
We made living wills when we made our regular wills. Living wills say what to do if you're on life support or brain dead. You should have that regardless of travel.
I clearly don't know the lingo or have a will. Did you have a lawyer draft yours? Is there anything I can put together last minute before travel, just in case?

Yes we had a lawyer. So what are you wanting to do right now? Do you want to just make sure the kids can get treatment if something happens to them while you're gone? (You can just write a note for that) Or are you thinking you need something like if you both die who takes care of them? (this would be a will)
If you don't have a will, you need one! But as a last minute thing, I would guess you could just fill out an on line do it yourself will thingy and discuss it thoroughly with whoever is staying with your boys and sign it and have someone like your mom witness it. And then at least your wishes are out there and although it might not be completely legal and binding, at least if your family isn't nuts, they would respect what you wanted.
