And one more post... toys for 3 year olds

B is starting to outgrow some of his toys.  We have a ton of matchbox cars and that's pretty much what he plays with inside.  I need some new ideas.  We have lots of blocks, legos, puzzles, playdoh, magnets, etc...  but he's in a rut.  What kinds of toys does your LO love?  Especially those geared more towards boys...

I've been looking at something like this https://www.amazon.com/Tomy-TY5001-Big-Loader/dp/B000I7CTY0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=toys-and-games&qid=1303181235&sr=8-1 and some of the other TOMY toys, but I can't help but wonder if there are other cool things out there.

  • Tools...DS is obsessed with tools.  He uses them to "fix" his kitchen, he has a work bench, and DH gave him a few pieces of wood that he pretends to build into bird houses.  He also plays a lot with his matchbox cars and "diggers" (construction vehicles).  Right now he's also really into Alphie.  We gave him this Mickey camper when DD was born and he plays with it a lot too....he likes to play pretend with things like this and incorporate his other toys into his play.  TRU had other cute Mickey sets and DS also has a mini Sesame Street set that I think came from Walmart.  I like how these sets encourage his pretending.

  • The boys I watch are really into the train table right now.  They also play with the little people a lot.  I have Special Agent Oso, Mickey Mouse clubhouse, Sesame Street, Wonder Pets, and Disney Princess figurines mixed in there too, so they really play pretend with all those.

I have a lot of different hats that they like to wear and they love playing in the costume box.  They also like when I get out the musical instruments.

I keep a lot of "special toys" in my supply closet so they are always super excited when I get those out.  HTH!

  • Magna doodle is still a big fave in our house, mr potato head, pretend tools, his fisher price little people toys (especially his farm...that gets a TON of play time) and lincoln logs

  • Trains and train table, play kitchen, basketball hoop and soccer net, a Cars garage and different vehicles from the movie, he loves books (we have a Tag Jr and Tag reader also), still likes the Little People farm, tool box and doctor kit, Handy Manny and his tools, blocks and legos, and we have a ton of games from his birthday that he really enjoys.  I would suggest games if you don't have any/many yet, that is mostly what he got for his birthday :)
