Pregnant after 35

what happens when stress continues?

So Im 20 wks and had extreme fatigue up until 4 wks ago.  My husband, who is 36, had a heart attack with emergency bypass surgery three wks ago.  Ive been taking care of him.  Now Im sick with sinus infection and he is developing it also.  My appetite has been nothing in abt a month...OB knows abt it all.... I just wonder will all this affect our baby?  I just don't know abt it all....   All I pray is our little baby is strong and can make it through all this....

Re: what happens when stress continues?

  • During my first and early second trimesters my father was dying of pancreatic cancer and I had some other high stress issues going on. I had constant anxiety, cried all the time and never ate anything. I was such a mess I considered going on anti-depressants but decided to struggle though - not sure I made the right choice but I'm still standing. Let people help you, try and just breathe. The baby will be fine. My dr did say healthy babies are born under incredible stress all the time. Good luck.

  • I don't have much personal info. to share regarding your post, except I wanted to extend a heartfelt *virtual hug* and let you know that I think you're amazingly strong! I hope your husband is doing ok...and you are in my thoughts. I can add that I think babies are some of the most resilient, amazing beings on the planet. I bet that your sweet little one is hanging in there and is just as strong as their momma and daddy.  Take care and blessing to you and your entire family.

  • The stress shouldn't affect the baby. No matter how tired and stressed out I was, I kept hearing the same thing.

"Take care of yourself, the baby is going to take what she needs and leave you with nada, you're only making it worse on yourself"

As for the situation, I hope all goes well and you and your family are in good health soon!
