From what I can gather the 2 is better for younger kids and the Explorer is more for the older kids/can grow more with them.
I'm considering these for my 2 guys and wondering if I should get 1 of each or just the Explorer and make them share? (ages 3 and almost 5)
Anyone have either of these?
Care to give your review?
Thoughts?
Advice on how to choose between the 2?
TIA!
Re: Leapster 2 vs. Leapster Explorer?
I would get the explorer. DD really loves playing with hers. The only con I would have to say about it is that it asks to be plugged into the pc to connect with the leapfrog world online . My dd learned just to ignore that though. The targeted age starts age 4 but I got dd the explorer for her 3rd birthday. She could easily play with it right away and has almost daily since. The screen is much brighter and clearer than the leapster2. I compared it to my nephew's leapster2 and the difference was huge. Plus, the explorer has an e-reader, the option to play leapfrog movies or use the camera attachment. I believe the leapster2 is for game playing only.
Explorer. I think it is replacing the Leapster2. I know they are still on shelves, but I doubt it will be long before they are gone. The graphics difference is significant, and the Explorer is so much more versatile.
And I wouldn't expect them to share - that is a disaster waiting to happen. The whole reason DD got a Leapster is because she kept taking DS.
lol, that's a really good point! We had to get another one right away for dd2 to keep the peace.
