English question (punctuation related)

Is there a new way of writing lately that involves not putting a space between punctuation?

I have seen this on several boards and another forum I post on. It is completely confusing trying to read.

    This. Punctuation is meant to be a break, a stop, or a pause. If someone isn't putting a space inbetween the punctuation mark and the start of a new word, it defeats the purpose.

    Exactly.No space after any type of punctuation.It really gets on my nerves when they,the poster,types like this.

    I had to ask why my sister did this when she texted me. She said it was so it would send only 1-2 texts, vs. 3-4. (She does not have unlimited.)

    I do not see how this works when typing on a computer. It would annoy me too!
