Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Had first full night with no DS

Last night, DH and I went to an all-night Halloween party, and my Mom watched DS for us. It was weird going home after the party with no baby in the backseat with us. It was also weird waking up at 10:00am instead of the usual 7:30am to play with DS and feed him breakfast. When I picked him up this morning, I was SO happy to see him! Both myself and DH tried to not talk about DS while at the party, but it was hard not too. Having him away overnight was nice, but was also strange.
When was the first time you had a full night with no DC where they stayed with someone else?

  • I'm glad you had a good time!!!  I haven't left DS yet over night, I'm not ready!

  • DS was four months old when we went to a wedding and he stayed with my sister (a parent of two herself).

I loved it. It was the first time since I was about 7 months pregnant that I had slept so well. We do it about once every 6 weeks now. Either my sister or my MIL takes him and DH and I go out.

It does/did feel really weird though...like I was forgetting something. But then once you get used to it, you can feel SOOOOO relaxed.

    Congrats on a BIG milestone!

  • We haven't left her yet.  I will need to be away overnight next week, but my husband will be here with her.
  • What a good thing for ya'll!  We started at 6 mos.  My sister wanted him overnight since we were moving.  We now do it every now and than.  It is really good for us b/c it gives a chance to reconnect romantically and it gives Harmon a chance to get the royal spoil from our families.

  • That sounds so great!

We still haven't had a full night w/out DD because of her sleep issues.. we can't ask someone else to deal w/ that and it's way worse when it's someone other then me getting up w/ her at night :( and even worse if it's not in her own crib/room!

  • Haven't done it yet- DD wakes up quite a bit from 7-10pm, and still eats once at night.  If we did leave her with someone, I would either have to get up in the middle of the night to pump or be woken up with one rock hard boob, so no overnights away from her yet!

That's exactly it! We were able to have a night of freedom and romance, and Quentin also got to enjoy all the extra attention from his grandma and aunt.
We will definitely make sure to do this again sometime soon. : )

  • My first time leaving DD overnight was last night too.  DH and I both had Bachelor/ette parties to go to.  She stayed with IL's and was soo good for them.  I loved the smile on her face when she came home today and saw me.  I missed her tons, but it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.
