My OB put me on clomid 2 cycles ago to help my ovulation (50mg for 5 days). But the only monitoring she said I needed was a day 21 progesterone to see if I ovulated. This month the progesterone was 8.2, so she said I ovulated, but probably wasn't pregnant, so I should increase the dose to 100mg next month. Still did not offer monitoring.
Fortunately I wasn't happy with her lack of concern or involvement in treating me, and this morning we had our first appt with an RE. Lo and behold, I have a HUGE cyst on my right ovary, definitely caused by the clomid. If the cyst doesn't go away very soon, then I won't be able to go on Femara next month (as recommended by RE). But if I hadn't gone to the RE, I would never have known about the cyst because it's not painful. I would have possibly gone on a higher dose of clomid again and this could have been a really big problem for the cyst.
I always read about warnings to be monitored on the bump but I always pooh-poohed it because I was on a low dose of clomid and I didn't think it was necessary. Now I am a true believer that no one should be on clomid without monitoring! (Actually, I think everyone should think twice about clomid in general cause it sucked).
So if you are on clomid and aren't being monitored, you should INSIST on getting ultrasounds!

Baby N conceived after 1 miscarriage and more than 2 years of TTC. Diagnosis was low sperm count. We found success after 3 months of anastrozole to increase DH's testosterone and one IUI.

I am glad you went to see an RE who did the right thing for you. Sorry about the cyst. Hope it goes away soon. My cyst doesn't hurt either, but it isn't very big.
Good luck!
