tell me about jogging w/ baby

I really want to start running.  I started before I got pregnant and LOVED it but couldn't continue throughout pregnancy.  So now that baby is here I want to pick it up again but it means bringing baby with me.  Can anyone give me any recs on a jogging stroller?  As long as baby has good neck control she's good to come along for the ride right?  How do you bundle baby for the crisp fall weather?

Sorry so many ?'s...TIA =)

Re: tell me about jogging w/ baby

  • we got a jogger travel system so that we can use it even when he is little.  i am not actually very athletic, but wanted the option for night time family walks.  i am also curious about how to do it when it is cold.  obviously i can bundle most of his body, but what about his lil face!?

  • RE: The cold face.  What about putting the little plastic cover used for rain on the stroller?  I think that would block the cold.
  • that sounds like it's worth trying!
  • Technically, you're supposed to wait until 6 months before jogging with your little one but plenty of moms (including myself) do it sooner provided the baby has adequate head support. ?BOB Strollers probably come highest recommended but there are other less expensive options. ?One thing you want to look for is a front wheel that locks - its harder to steer but helps with more rugged terrein including snow if you live in a colder climate.

As for keeping your DC warm, I put DS in a fleece one piece with covered feet and hands as well as a built-in muff/sleeping bag. ?When the temp drops further, I'll add a blanket and put the plastic cover over the stroller (it has a breathing panel).?

  • We love our jeep liberty jogger with mp3 hook up so he can hear the music.

  • I rave about the BOB Revolution to anyone who asks. :) It is so light and turns really easily, and the front wheel locks for jogging. We have the infant carseat adaptor, but I don't think it's really necessary because the seat reclines almost all the way. We LOVE this stroller, and have a few friends who have been using it longer than us who highly recommend it as well.

Also, for keeping her warm, we have been using the Bundleme (sp?) - the heavy one (they have a version called the Bundleme Lite, too).

  • Oh, and we haven't jogged with it yet since she's only a week and a half old, but our friends have a say it works great. :)
  • One more thing - sorry! :) This stroller is also nice for walking and going places  - it's light and pretty compact for a jogger. I brought it to the mall the other day and it worked just fine - really good at turning sharp corners around clothing racks ;)
