I am driving along minding my business when C taps me on the shoulder, from OUTSIDE his car seat WHILE THE CAR WAS IN MOTION. He was very stealth about it. I about died there was of course NOWHERE for me to pull over. Once I did, which was only a minute but felt like an eternity,I then instilled the fear of g-d b/c I didn't hold back and I think I scared the crap out of him. I am thinking about bringing him to the police station and asking them to talk to him about how much trouble mommy and C will get in if he ever does this again. He keeps telling me that he isn't comfortable in his current seat which is a boulevard. He is within the height and weight limits of the seat but keeps telling me he wants to sit like a big boy not a baby. I am thinking maybe the booster (we want to get the Britax frontier) will make him feel like a big boy? Obviously he still must have the 5 pt harness, which I will keep him in until he's 10 if I have the option. I am guessing that seat will allow him to climb in, I can help him buckle and he'll feel more like he is in a regular seat?? He has NEVER liked the car, this started at birth, so maybe there is no solution but I will do anything to prevent him from doing what he did last night. My current method is to duct tape the chest clip. Anyone else's kid do this?
Re: So listen to what my kid did last night...
This made me laugh SO hard!
Lauren, I think you need to do what you need to do about the buckle. If you need to duct tape it, then OK. Hopefully Colin will respect the safety of the car seat from now on.
As for the fear of g-d....well, last week I told my niece to stay on the side of the car I was putting P and Isaac into and NOT to walk to her side in a busy parking lot with a pizza delivery place. She did it anyway and I crawled her up and down. There were tears but she scared the mess out of me. How would I have explained worst case to my sister? Kids do not understand how dangerous the car and parking lots are and hello! we are only one mommy. Jo listened in the parking lot after that for sure!
LMAO @ like a flying squirrel. If he did that I would have run off the road!!
Ha, I of course handled it like a true professional and slammed on brakes. It's a miracle she didn't come crashing through the windshield. Not one of my finer parenting moments.
Ha ha... laughing all over again. I can picture this entire scene perfectly!
