Mommies: is there a 5 month wakeful period??

For almost 3 weeks now, my DD wakes up anywhere from 45 minutes - 2 hours after she goes to sleep at night...and then it takes a looooong time to get her back to sleep.  She'll then wake up 2 hours after that - and then again around 5:00 am.   I wouldn't be surprised if she's teething, so we've tried teething tables, motrin, tylenol (not all at once obvioulsy; each on separate nights) and they're not making a difference.  Do you think this is the 4 month wakeful period hitting a month late?   If you have any suggestions, I'd love to hear them.  Thanks!!!

  • WOW!  You poor thing!  This could be teething, or it could be a wakeful thing as well.  I would start with your Pedi and have her checked out.  Than you can try referencing the Ferber book or the No Cry Sleep Solution book (depending on your values and feelings about CIO).  GL!

  • DS has been up between 3 - 5 am every morning for the past few weeks. I have no idea what to try either. The only way we sleep through the night is to throughly exhaust him during the day, lots of activities, little to no napping, but then he is just miserable all afternoon and evening.

The only good thing is I get alot done during those 2 hours while he plays!

  • Oh gosh, I hope not! I remember my first one waking up a lot more at 5 and 6 months due to teething, maybe this is it?  Hang in there!
