Natural Birth

Got my hypnobabies yesterday!

I'll be starting it this afternoon. I'm excited!!

For those of you who used the homestudy course, did your DH listen w/you immediately?

With DS, I wanted to "see how it went" & did pretty well. I was induced (@40w w/GD), but was already in early labor, water broke on it's own, and I went from 2-6cm in less than 2.5 hours. If I would have recognized I was hitting transition when I asked for the epidural, I would have waited. DH didn't know what to do. I didn't involve him much in prepping for labor, and he just wanted me to feel better.

This time, I am trying to fully prep myself, since I went so fast. I discussed the plan w/DH, and he's on board. I am hoping that I can make it this time, and I think I'll have a better support system this time.

I am thinking that I'll listen to each week & after listening to several days of tracks, having DH listen to the tracks & read with me once or twice a week. I was just curious how you ladies handled it?

Re: Got my hypnobabies yesterday!

  • i haven't had dh listen or read anything yet... i'll probably wait til i get more into it before i get him on board.  i'll probably get dh involved in it all in the next couple weeks once i know more of what his role in the program will be.

  • DH listened to the last half of one of the tracks, and read me the bubble of peace script once, but was crying from laughing so hard. I think it lost it's hypnotic effect for that session. I haven't really dove into the program yet, just mostly listening every other night to a track before bed, but hopefully he'll be more involved when I get more involved too.

  • We're doing the hypnobabies class, so it's a little different, but I still have to tracks to listen to during the week. I haven't particularly arranged for DH to hear them, but since I do it at night before bed, he's heard a few times and will probably hear them pretty regularly. This week (we're in week 1 - we had our first class Saturday) we alternate between having DH read me a script, and listen to a track on the other days. So he read to me last night, and I'll listen to a track tonight. It went well with him reading, but not quite as good as when I hear a CD. I might have just not been as relaxed to begin with, or maybe I was distracted by his presence.

This! I haven't even tried to have DH look at anything because he'll just say it's hocus pocus and laugh at me. When the time gets closer I'll just tell him what he needs to do (the bare minimum) like the Peace cue, and touching my shoulder, but other than that I'm flying solo.

  • YAY!!!! I LOVE Hypnobabies! Stick with it, you will get the swing of things.  Maybe try listening to it alone laying in bed so you won't have dh's input, or put in in an ipod or mp3 player.  We had an amazing pain free comfortable birth with Hypnobabies. I practiced faithfully and it worked beautifully!
