Ugh - mad at Amazon Prime

I ordered spare breast pump parts for going back to work through Prime. They should have been delivered yesterday or today (today would be 2-day shipping, but I usually get things in one day for some reason). I haven't gotten them yet and went to check and they're not being delivered until Friday! WTF, Amazon?

  • If today is the second day and you don't get them today, contact them tomorrow and complain. They messed up my shipping once and they sent me a $10 gift card.

  • I contacted them and they're shipping a set overnight and cancelled the original order. So I'll have them tomorrow. I'll just have to get through tomorrow with one set--according to the breastfeeding board I can just stick them in the fridge between sessions, so it should be fine.

  • I can tell you after a full year of pumping and now three weeks into number two, I've never had a problem with just rinsing the pump parts out with hot water between sessions.  Over the weekend I throw them in the dishwasher with all the bottles and nipples from the week and then steam them in my avent steamer.  You will be fine, I promise!!
  • After pumping for 10+ months for DD #1 and 3 months with DD #2, this is what works for me.  I have two sets of parts, but I only use one per day.  The set I use goes in the fridge after each pumping (no rinse) and then get washed (by DH) every night.  I leave those out to dry and use the second set.  I only use one set of bottles to pump per day (I have two or three).  After I'm done pumping I pour the milk in to my storage bag (I use Lansinoh bags) and the bottles, pump parts and milk bag (hahaha) go in to the fridge.  At night DH washes the bottles from DC and my stuff from pumping.  Takes him 5 minutes.  Maybe 7 if he's distracted, LOL.

I only ever had one set! Or at least, only brought one set with me. I would rinse them between pumping sessions, then wash them in the dishwasher at night to sterilize (alternating sets each day).

    That is annoying though.

  • I'm glad to hear they're sending you another set overnight.

FWIW I have two set of pump parts, but I've never used the second set. I keep it at work as a backup. I also refrigerate parts in between pumping sessions and then wash everything with hot water and soap at the end of the day.

  • It was less about actually needing them tomorrow and more about being frustrated about the order being late - I have a checklist of things to do to prepare for work and this was one of them. Sometimes being a control freak makes life difficult :-)

Amazon did also give me a $10 credit, so that's good - that will help with the next order of diapers (which I am one diaper closer to needing - LO just pooped loudly and is now beaming and cooing on his swing). LOL.
