I've seen lots of ladies mention that UTIs are both common and less recognizable while pregnant. I think I might have one right now and just wondering how people know before I make an appt with my dr.
I've been feeling crampy in my lower abdomen and I've been peeing much more frequently lately (my frequency tapered off and now is back on). No real pain when I pee, but just feeling out of sorts down there. Of course, I KNOW this could just be growing and stretching, but just wondering how others felt when they had a UTI.
TIA.
Re: UTI symptoms while pregnant
I thought a few weeks that I had one. I was convinced. I was peeing all the time, had some weird abdominal twinges/cramps where my bladder is. And I also thought I had kidney pain. Had a urine test at both the RE's and the ob's office (my appts were close together) and both were negative. Guess it was just good ol' pregnancy symptoms
I hope it turns out to be nothing! I did hear that UTI symptoms may present differently in pregnancy, that's why I thought I had one.
it is better to get the test - no matter what.
It takes a few minutes to pee in a cup. No harm to you.
My OB resident told me that if you get a UTI while pregnant and dont treat it, your risk of premature delivery is increased. especially later on. so go get the test.
