Going to see my fertility specialist today.

in TTC After a Loss

After things came back normal for my PCOS results, and being told that she has no further steps for me... I demanded a WTF appointment. I'm hoping that she's going to change my view on her. I've heard so many good things about her, but when I was told no further steps... it was just a shock.

I'm going to ask more about my test results, and if they tested me for IR along with the PCOS. I'm also going to ask her about doing a medicated cycle either with clomid or femara. I might even ask about a trigger or IUI - because knowing my follie size last Monday, there might be a possibility that my eggs are too big to be good quality (since FF says I didn't O until Friday).

I'm taking my charts, even though last time she told me not to chart anymore. I'm going to basically ask her WTF and What can you do for me?

Is there anything else you guys think I can ask about?

    I hope you have a really good appointment and that your Dr. gives you a reason to stay with her.  I would say if this appointment doesn't go the way you hope, maybe consider a change in Dr.  I think it's really important that you're both on the same page.  I find it really strange that any doctor would discourage charting.  Certainly this would be really helpful information for them, right?

    Go get 'em tiger!  If she does agree to the trigger, freedom fertility pharmacy online is a good place to order.  The dr has to call/fax it in, but they are at least $40 cheaper than retail pharmacies if you are 100% oop. 

    And give YH a high 5 from Bill!  Impressive FWP streak!!

    I just wanted to say good luck on your appointment! 

    5/16/2005: M/C at 7 wks
    5/3/2010: MM/C at 7 wks 6 days
    5/25/2014: CP at 4 wks 3 days

    Because of the great "Snow"vember of 2015, my medicated cycle was cancelled.  However, we were blessed with our little rainbow baby due on 8/14/15!  Baby J had other plans and decided to make his grand ole entrance on 7/4/2015!

    Surprise!  Our little girl entered this world on 12/8/2016 after her eviction notice was long past due.  Our little turkey baby turned into a snow baby!

    No advice on what to ask but be firm and be your own advocate!!  Sometimes they need a little coaxing.  Good luck!

    Sounds like you're set to get in there and get some answers! Give em h*ll lady!

    PS - I've heard nothing but good things about my Dr and have been let down often. It ba-lows!

    Thanks everyone! I'm just so nervous that she's going to tell me that I got pregnant twice now on my own so she can do nothing... that and I'm so afraid i'm going to hear the "lose weight" line.

    Good thing is I already have the number for another doctor in case she does. I would hate to leave my office that I love so dearly... but this new specialist I don't know much about yet. But this new specialist can always get me pregnant and then I can switch back to my OB.

    I would also ask for a referral to an RE. I've never had an RE say "well, you don't have PCOS, so keep having sex". Plus, you're coming up on the year mark, so it's good time to get that ball rolling. In hindsight, I wish we would have stepped up to the RE plate a lot sooner than we did.

    Also, if you do a medicated cycle with her, will she give you a CD10 ultrasound to check for cysts? Crazy cysts on clomid are rare, but you don't want to be part of the 1%....KWIM?

    Also, is DH going to do a SA? Yes, he got you PG twice, but my dad also got my mom PG twice and he had barely any sperm (it took 14 years). A SA would give you a better idea on how successful IUI will be.

    THIS!! If your husband hasn't had an SA yet, DO IT!!  I don't know why docs don't do one sooner.  I know a lot of the time that isn't the problem, but if it is, why wait an entire year to find out??  Especially since it's a pretty simple procedure.

    And I don't know if "fertility specialist" and "reproductive endocrinologist" are synonymous, but I think an RE would be a lot more helpful.

    Weight may be an issue, BUT even if it is the issue they should give you better options than "lose weight."  Even if it was, "Lose x amount of weight, then we're going to do A, B, and C."  

    You are an amazing person.  I want nothing but good, great, awesome things for you.  Please update us when you get back!!

    I don't think there are any REs around my area at all. I'd have to travel. My specialist is only a PAC, but she worked with a infertility doctor {who's technical term is something that I can't remember but it's not RE} for 16 years.

    She didn't mention the SA in the 5 minute meeting - but i'll have to ask on Thursday about that.

    How did it go Cashew? I hope you got good news and that you didn't have to can her and start over! 

    After two losses, a rainbow arrived! DD born 11.5.11
    Dx with severe Asherman's syndrome after a botched PP D&C (pursuing med mal)
    Hysteroscopy Oct '13, not enough progress 
    Hysteroscopy Jan '14, given an end-of-the-road diagnosis
    Joined International Asherman's Association April '14 
    Not ready to give up yet.
    Hysteroscopy with Dr. Isaacson (an expert in the USA) 6.2.14: Good prognosis, at least 50% of cavity open.
    Repeat hysteroscopy scheduled with Dr. I on 6.16.14. Great progress. Unbenched!!!!
    Discussing actively TTC with DH after the heartache of the last year. We're both reeling.
