I leave the one in Cooper's room on 24/7 because I have it in a place that's hard to get to so Cooper doesn't mess with it when he's playing in there. Ben turns his off when he gets up. Even if he gets up just to come tell us something, he turns it off. then he turns it back on when he goes back to his room.
We use a fan, and just leave it on all night and for naps. I sleep with one too so it never really occurred to me to turn it off.
Ditto. Except all out fans died, so now I am using a sound machine in his room. Turns out he likes it more. We live on a very noisy street and I'm sure he'd get woken up if I didn't leave it on.
All night, and most days. His room is upstairs, and we live downstairs so I dont even notice its on during the day until I take him up for a nap, and I would want it on for that time anyway. I wouldnt ever turn it off in the middle of the night, I think Holden needs it most in the morning when dh is performing his own rendition of "Stomp" aka getting ready for work.
We usually turn on a CD for Lucy at bedtime so it turns itself off when it is done. Sometimes I turn on 98.1, the classical music station. If that is the case, I go in and turn it off an hour or so after she falls asleep.

Re: How long do you use your white noice machine?
We just leave it on all night. I'm sure she'd be fine if we turned it off, but honestly we've never thought of it.
