2nd Trimester

dealing with the heat

Ok so today the temp topped out around 100F and even right now at 11pm its 78F.  I don't know what to do to deal with the heat.  Not pregnant the heat was hard to deal with, but now.... today I felt dizzy, weak, and exhausted most of the day.  Not to mention swollen and sweating.  I drank 4 liters of water, so that wasn't the issue.  Does heat do this to anyone else?  Is it normal to feel so affected by it? Considering its only April and Im only 20 weeks, I feel like its going to be hell making it till September.

Re: dealing with the heat

  • I'd like to say it gets better - but it didn't for me first time around.  I was miserable all summer.  Swollen, hot, felt nasty.

But it is all worth it in the end, right? :)

So worth it, in fact, that I will be pregnant all summer, AGAIN!

  • You poor thing! I myself have the same issues...I've ALWAYS been hotter than other people. I went out today wearing capris and a tank top while people are still wearing jeans/jackets staring at me. It was 65 degrees, and I feel like that's all I can take, but I'll be dealing with temps like you are prob within a month/month and a half. I already have to shower twice a day cuz I smell quicker and worse than ever before, and ALWAYS feel gross. I just try to keep clean, use baby powder to absorb sweat, change my clothes 2x/day, and am begging for the a/c to be put in this weekend even though we still use the comforter (at least he does) at night :-) Hang in there!!!

  • stay in the ac a lot. I live in SWFL and had DS in August...it's brutal. I only went outside to get in the pool or to get to/from car. It's just not fun :(

  • I have always been affected by heat like that, so I don't even want to imagine how miserable I will be once its starts getting that hot here.

  • yeah, like pp said, just keep doing what you're doing and know that it will pass. drink water like mad, and eat stuff like popsicles and such. i live in las vegas, so i feel your pain. pregnant or not though, if i'm outside during the summer for any length of time, i'm in the pool! swimming is a great --- maybe you can find a pool nearby? or take some kind of water aerobics to cool off.
  • Stay inside, wear lightweight clothes, put you feet up:(
